Cinque Terre

A few weeks after we went away, but here are some piccies of our trip to the Cinque Terre, in Italy. It was a trip that we have been looking forward to since our original trip to Europe when we were stopped from going there by a train strike.

Needless to say, it was one of the most brilliant long weekends we've had in a long time. As you can see, there was plenty in the way of scenery, sea, pizza and beer to keep us very happy and relaxed after what has been a particularly busy start to the year for us both.

Fiona on the path just near our apartment in Manarola, in our opinion the prettiest, and quaintest of the five towns.

Manarola, as seen from the beginning of the coastal walk to Corniglia.

Main street in Manarola. The restaurant on the left owned our apartment, and also made a good seafood platter!
This guy was fitter than we were! Below you can see the view from our balcony.
Our first walk along the coast was the short trip to Riomaggiore.
The colours of Riomaggiore really exploded when the sun came out. Below: a well earned beer above Riomaggiore. Once the sun came out, we both settled in for a little kip...
Manarola by sunset.
A soggy but thoroughly enjoyable walk to Vernazza ended with us chasing off the chill with a hot Italian special...

Back in Vernazza on our last day, just minutes before we were soaked by a massive wave which flooded the break water. Luckily Fee had picked up the camera only seconds before!

Some tower in Pisa...

The obligatory shot....I haven't included my version.....you can guess!
