Fee and I spent a lovely extended weekend recently in Cala Galdana, a seaside resort town in Menorca. It was perhaps the most relaxing weekend we've had in a long, long time, consisting of a lot of sleeping on the beach, swimming and, as usual, eating and drinking. Above is a view of Cala Galdana from the terrace of our hotel, where we had brekkie each morning.
The next morning after breakfast, we set off for a walk over to Cala Mitjana, a small undeveloped cove about 15-20 minutes away from Cala Galdana. A right turn out of the hotel however, meant that we took the wrong path, so 20 minutes turned into around an hour and a half of bush bashing our way through a path that meandered (at some points disappeared) along the coast. 30-odd degrees and meant that by the time we emerged from the scrub, hot and scratched red raw, we were well and truly ready for a swim. When we saw what greeted us at the other end we just about sprinted to the water!
Looking back at Cala Macarella, on our way to Cala Macarelleta, its smaller sister beach, which turned out to be 'clothing optional'....we decided to opt for 'clothing on'! With the amount of bare flesh on show around this whole area, a few more dangly bits didn't really make that much difference anyway.

See, clothes on! Fiona of course, was starkers behind the camera. (Why do you think I've got such a big smile on my face!......just kidding by the way.)

After another hard day on the beach, we made use of our hire car and drove over to Ciutadella, a pretty little harbour town. After a bit of local hog roast (see the poor fella below) we spent a balmy evening strolling along the streets with the locals, picking up some wine, and some of the local gin for a little 'night cap' on the hotel balcony. We really were in our element.

Back to Cala Mitjana for our final day, before Paella lunch, and a final swim and a snooze on Cala Galdana before bidding a sad farewell for our journey back to London.
It was raining when we got back.
